Antiques and bric-à-brac market
Rarities, bargains and collectables – on Saturdays by the river Weser.
Go out and buy something new? No way! This antiques and bric-à-brac market doesn't sell what's new, it sells the most wonderful pre-owned collectables. Practical things for the house, decorative pieces for walls and windows, books you won't find anywhere else, and so on. Seek and you will find. And even if you intend only to have a bit of a browse, you'll probably go home with a bargain or two.
The early bird ...
... catches the worm. Which is why Saturdays start early on the Weser riverbank. The first customers start trickling in even as the stalls are being set up and boxes unpacked. One man's rubbish is another man's treasure, so get hunting.
Once upon a time ...
Every object laid out on the long tables has a story to tell. Some traders will happily regale you with this, while you examine the vase, the book, the radio. The best bit comes next: haggling to get a great piece at an even better price, although some people have been known to spend a small fortune for a special antique.
A good old rummage ...
Buyer or seller, young or old – there's something for everyone here. The antiques and bric-à-brac market isn't only a place where second-hand goods find a new owner. It's also a lively rendezvous by the river and a great place to start a walk around Bremen. A chat, a spot of shopping, that's what weekends are all about – and this isn't your average market. So get yourself in the mood for vintage.
