Übersee-Museum

Description

The Overseas Museum is the place for a very special experience: its collection, which brings together natural history, ethnology and commercial history, is unique in Europe. The museum's unique exhibits from all over the world, superb animal dioramas and real plants take visitors on voyages to far-away continents to discover their fascinating cultures and habitats! The journey around the world leads from the shimmering underwater world of Oceania with its colourful coral reef, via Asia with its legendary Silk Road and vibrant metropolises, to the African savannah and then as far as the golden pre-Columbian treasures in America. You are encouraged to engage interactively with many exhibits, making this a museum experience for all the senses! Even more treasures from the collection, which is unlike any other in Europe, wait to be discovered in the neighbouring "Übermaxx" Visible Storage building. The Museum takes a critical look at its own past in its latest exhibition, "Spurensuche" (trail-finder). The Overseas Museum encompasses global topics that are relevant to our lives today, questions about natural habitats and cultures outside Europe and Bremen's business connections and trading relationships, making it an experience that will inspire you to find out more about the wonderfully diverse world we live in!
