Come on in!
Bremen offers a wealth of exceptional conference and event venues
With its conference centre, exhibition halls and a number of well-appointed congress hotels, Bremen is the ideal venue for conventions and events with up to 10,000 participants. Alongside these traditional locations, the city also has a number of alternative venues known for their distinctive architecture, furnishings, location or history.
From wine to Werder Bremen
Scientists will relish a visit to the House of Science set in a historical building in the city centre or the Universum science centre at Bremen University whose spectacular architecture is reminiscent of a giant mussel. An event at the Himmelssaal hall in Böttcherstrasse, on the other hand, is likely to appeal to any art lover. A tour of this masterpiece of expressionist architecture is a true delight: the hall with its domed ceiling made of blue and white glass tiles is only open to the public at certain times. Guests at the Weserburg Museum can explore Germany's largest collection of contemporary art, while the Focke Museum is an excellent opportunity for anyone to immerse themselves in Bremen's history of art and culture.
Bremen's UNESCO-listed town hall provides a fantastic setting for conferences, as does the Ratskeller underneath. The Werder Bremen football stadium and the Mercedes-Benz plant also host events. Alternatively, why not hold your seminar in a TV studio surrounded by loudspeakers and cameras? At Radio Bremen, for example, you can hire out the studio where the talk show '3 nach 9' is regularly broadcast. The Weserhaus, the building where the radio station is based, also has a number of more conventional conference rooms overlooking the Schlachte promenade along the Weser river.
From glorious blossom to culinary delights
Nature lovers will appreciate the Meierei restaurant, a Swiss-style building in Bremen's Bürgerpark – or the 'botanika' garden in the heart of the city's Rhododendron Park. Bremen's green science centre is ideal for 'green meetings', but it can also be used for a wide range of other events. Some meetings take place amid glorious blossom, others in the more traditional setting of one of two newly built seminar rooms. The Japanese garden is a true oasis of calm, while the gallery in the greenhouse makes a perfect stage, dance floor or banqueting area. From here you can enjoy fantastic views of the perfectly recreated Himalayan landscape with its waterfall and the largest Buddha statue outside of Asia.
Those looking to soak up some maritime flair can stage their event on one of Bremen's riverboats. Guests are also welcome on board the replica of the Hansekogge, a cargo ship from the Hanseatic era — and on the last remaining fully-rigged sailing ship in Germany, the training ship Deutschland. Another interesting location is the Überseestadt district, where the former docklands have been redeveloped in one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe. In addition to traditional port industries and other crafts, IT companies, advertising and design agencies, and the University of the Arts all add to the harbourside flair.
Covering an area of 1,200 square metres on the top floor of an old port warehouse, the 'Hudson Eventloft' is perfect for any prestigious occasion. The old concrete columns and thick metal pipes on the ceiling are evidence of the building's original purpose, while huge black chandeliers and a bar lit up in red now create a unique ambience. In another converted warehouse just around the corner guests can conjure up their very own culinary creations. The cooking experiences offered for groups at the 'Genuss-Event' kitchen studio are a tasty team-building exercise.
