jazzahead! – Bremen showcases talent from home and abroad
19-22 April 2012
The live programme for the 2012 jazzahead! festival gets off to a rousing start with Spanish Night on Thursday 19 April, featuring five jazz acts from this year's partner country Spain. An appearance by Tomatito Sextet, winners of several Grammy awards, provides the highlight the following day. Ten German jazz formations will also be playing on the Friday, at the inaugural German Jazz Expo.
Friday is 'Overseas Night' as well, with a line-up of five hand-picked bands from outside Europe. Most of these will be coming all the way from the USA, the birthplace of jazz. The last of this enthralling series of showcase events is the European Jazz Meeting on the Saturday. Featuring no fewer than 16 European bands, including one of the most inventive ensembles of the Norwegian jazz scene – Trondheim Jazz Orchestra – this is always one of the biggest draws for jazzahead! festival-goers. The various national jazz scenes use this unique European platform to showcase their most exciting jazz artists to a broad international audience. Saturday night is club night at the jazzahead! festival, with 17 venues playing everything from jazz and jazz-infused music right through to mash-ups with other genres. Holders of the festival pass can gain access to all concerts on the night.
Special hotel deal from just €99.00 per person: 2 nights in a double room incl. breakfast, 1 club night pass for admission to 17 venues featuring live jazz, 1 ErlebnisCard (discovery card), a small culinary surprise at selected restaurants and 1 travel guide per room.
