Study of Bremen associations by Professor Christoph Burmann
The purpose of this study was to gain a clearer picture of the identity and image of Bremen and Bremerhaven. It aimed to find out what visitors say about Bremen when they return home, what they expect from Bremen, but also what the locals see as the highlights of the city. The results showed that Bremen is perceived as a traditional, maritime city with attractive places of interest that are steeped in history.
When visitors were asked to spontaneously name an association with Bremen, 30.3 per cent cited the Town Musicians before anything else. This was confirmed by 16.6 per cent of locals. Respondents also named Werder Bremen football club, the river Weser and the port.
