Tanz Bremen – international festival of contemporary dance
January 2012. Tanz Bremen has been a standout event in Bremen's cultural calendar for more than 20 years, and from 16 to 25 March 2012, the festival will once again be showcasing the very best in contemporary dance. A selection of experimental choreographers, dazzling companies and charismatic dancers from Germany and around the world will give audiences an insight into all the latest forms of dance expression. Up-and-coming New York star Andrea Miller gets the festival off to a spectacular start with her most recent production 'Wonderland', which will be celebrating its European premiere in Bremen's Theater am Goetheplatz. She is joined in the opening weekend line-up by the enfant terrible of Canadian dance, Dave St-Pierre.
Later in the festival, the Canadian dancer and one-off talent Louise Lecavalier will be looking back at the highlights of her career as a soloist with La La La Human Steps through her duet 'A Few Minutes of Lock'. Her superlative pirouettes, in which she turns horizontally through the air, are sure to feature here. The Bremen dance theatre premiere in St. Peter's Cathedral promises to provide a fitting finale to the festival. It will be the first performance of Urs Dietrich's new work 'A German Requiem', which is set to music by Brahms.
