27 October 2018 to 28 April 2019, Übersee Museum
Follow in the footsteps of Luc Jacquet and explore the South Pole at the Antarctica exhibition – a first in Germany.
In 2015, the Oscar-winning director of The March of the Penguins set off on a 45-day expedition to Adélie Land, accompanied by two nature photographers. Here they captured breathtaking photos and video footage on the ice and in the depths of the Southern Ocean. The team documented scenes and creatures that had never before been caught on camera.
Combined with sound and light effects, these images allow you to immerse yourself in the world of the Antarctic – hunting with seals down towards the calm seabed and back up to the windswept ice. Surrounded by film sequences on huge screens, and by howling wind and screeching birds, you will find yourself in the midst of an emperor penguin colony.
