Bremen School Museum
Exhibition on the history of schools in Bremen since 1900; activities for groups: life and learning around the turn of the last century; childhood in the Nazi period.
Objects and documents from the history of Bremen's schools have been displayed at the historical 'Auf Der Hohwisch' school building since 1983. They give an insight into how learning has changed from one generation to the next and reveal the ups and downs of life at school in different eras. The exhibition includes an array of teaching equipment from Bremen's 'people's schools' from around the year 1900. The museum's collection and research also focuses on the pre-state school system, the progressive educational movement in experimental schools between 1920 and 1933, childhood and education during the Third Reich and new beginnings in 1945.
