Travel and parking
This is where you will find information about how to get to Bremen, the city's coach parking scheme and the low-emission zone.
Coaches with a total height of over 360cm that are travelling to the city centre are advised to exit the A1 autobahn at Bremen-Brinkum, Bremen-Arsten or Bremen-Hemelingen. This route to the city centre avoids underpasses.
Coach parking scheme
Most parking for coaches is centrally located, right by the main attractions, and it is normally free of charge. We keep in constant contact with the Roads and Traffic Authority to ensure that quality standards are maintained. This includes regular test runs with experienced coach drivers and checking our coach parking signage.
Each of our booking confirmations includes a copy of the coach parking scheme for the coach driver. But even if you don't have this to hand, the coach parking spaces are well signposted and easy to get to.
Bremen's traffic management office provides up-to-the-minute information on parking for coaches, road works and all other traffic matters.
Bremen low-emission zone
Only vehicles displaying a green disc or which have special dispensation are permitted to drive in Bremen's low-emission zone. Coaches remain exempt from this and can drive in the low-emission zone until 30 June 2012 provided they display a yellow disc. It will be mandatory for coaches to display a green disc from 1 July 2012.
Bremen's low-emission zone covers the districts of Altstadt and Östliche Vorstadt, some parts of Schwachhausen and most of Neustadt.
Coaches that do not have a green disc and that cannot be upgraded for technical reasons are permitted to drive in the low-emission zone with a yellow disc, provided they obtain special dispensation from the Roads and Traffic Authority. Coaches displaying a yellow disc must present written confirmation that the vehicle cannot be upgraded. This must be issued by a vehicle inspection station (e.g. TÜV or DEKRA in Germany) or comparable authority. No further inspection will take place. Special dispensation applies for a period of 18 months.
