The tour begins at St. Martin's quay near the cafés and restaurants along the Schlachte Embankment. Ride along the promenade until you get to the Weser Tower, which marks the gateway to Überseestadt. The route initially takes you along Europahafen. Around Europahafen and the new marina you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants and cultural and entertainment venues. Following the harbour's edge, you'll reach the jetty tower, which used to be the lighthouse for the old international port.
At the Holz- und Fabrikenhafen (Timber and Works Quay), you'll find another highlight: the Lloyd Caffee coffee roasting house, where the Lloyd Rösterei Tour in the old Café HAG building will show how coffee gets from the plantation to your cup, and where you'll be initiated into the secret art of making perfect coffee. You can visit the marble hall built by coffee merchant Ludwig Roselius in 1914 and the tour also includes a tasting of different coffee varieties.
You are now ready to begin the return leg of the cycling tour, which finishes where it began – at the Schlachte Embankment.
Our tip: from May to September, cyclists can take the ferry from Überseestadt to Woltmershausen. The Hal över ferry operates on Sundays and public holidays between the Waterfront complex (Pier 2), the jetty tower in Überseestadt and Lankenauer Höft. Cyclists can take their bikes on board.
